 Volunteer Area Overview

Dive Operations Volunteers assist the dive staff with cleaning and maintaining the exhibits from the water.

Prerequisites for being a dive volunteer include:

  • Training - 101: Orientation
  • Ocean Voyager Gallery Training (Training - 230: Ocean Voyager)
  • Zoonotics Training (Training - 141)
  • Completed 32 Volunteer hours (minimum of 20 hours on the floor)
  • Current dive log equaling 25 or more
  • Open Water certification or higher
  • First aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen administration certifications all current
  • Complete the BTS Volunteer Questionnaire and return to the Volunteer Programs Office (may be retuned in person or via fax to 404.581.4449)
  • Must attend dive interview, pass swim test and pass full dive physical.  (Physical fee of $370)
  • Must commit to a full year of 2 dives a month PLUS 12 floor shifts a year.  (Dive physical fee is reimbursed if this requirement is met each year)
